LFT Fiber Earns National ACA Connects Community Champions Award

LFT Fiber was honored with the 2025 Community Champions Award by America’s Communications Association (ACA Connects) for their outstanding commitment to community service and historical preservation.

At a ceremony held in the LFT Fiber lobby, ACA Connects made a$2,500 donation to the 4-A Sisters Club on behalf of LFT Fiber.

The honor celebrates hometown hero Major Fannie McClendon, a WWII hero from the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion, who grew up in Lafayette. The recognition corresponds with an event that took place on February 13, 2025, in collaboration with the 4-A Sisters Club, including a formal award presentation, a community meal, and a screening of Tyler Perry’s film, "The Six Triple Eight," which highlights the battalion’s legacy.

“Congratulations to LFT Fiber, our 2025 Community Champion,” said Grant Spellmeyer, President and CEO of America’s Communications Association. “LFT Fiber’s dedication to honoring local history and uplifting heroes like Major McClendon’s is truly inspiring. It exemplifies how America’s independent broadband providers go above and beyond to serve their communities and make a difference.”

“It is our privilege to celebrate Major McClendon’s legacy and support the 4-A Sisters Club,” said Michael D. Soileau, Director of LFT Fiber. “Both are inspirations of perseverance, hard work, and service toothers—attributes that are befitting of our great community in Acadiana.”

LFT Fiber will be honored with a special feature in Independent Communications News (ICN) on November 5th.

LFT Fiber Brings Draw Alive to Life at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana

A child draws a fish on a piece of paper. A few moments later, that same fish is swimming across a digital underwater world. That’s the idea behind Draw Alive™, a new interactive exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana that brings art, imagination and technology together in a way kids can experience for themselves. LFT Fiber and S1 Technology helped present and support the exhibit, and Scout Real Estate Co. made it all possible by building the walls around it. The exhibit opened at the museum in September 2026.
