Celebrating 20 Years of LFT Fiber: A Journey of Community Empowerment and Connectivity

As we look back on the past two decades, we have much to celebrate. In July of 2005, Lafayette took a bold step into the future of connectivity, refusing to let the challenge of high-speed internet define us in isolation. While many were skeptical about our ability to bridge the digital divide, the spirited residents of Acadiana rose to the occasion, transforming doubt into action. Residents of Lafayette approved of the city's plan to build our own fiber optic network, LFT Fiber.

This journey began with an unwavering belief in community empowerment. LFT Fiber was born from that belief—a locally built and community-powered initiative that has kept Lafayette connected for 20 remarkable years. Our story is about more than just providing internet; it's about creating a foundation for growth, innovation, and connection.

During these two decades, we've not only witnessed an evolution in technology but also in our community. We've seen it adapt, thrive, and stay connected to what matters most in their lives. From remote work and online education to streaming entertainment and smart home devices, to thriving businesses, LFT Fiber has been there, ensuring that our community can embrace the digital age with confidence.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look forward to the future. The landscape of technology is ever-changing, and so are we. Our commitment to innovation remains steadfast as we explore new ways to enhance connectivity.

LFT Fiber Brings Draw Alive to Life at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana

A child draws a fish on a piece of paper. A few moments later, that same fish is swimming across a digital underwater world. That’s the idea behind Draw Alive™, a new interactive exhibit at the Children’s Museum of Acadiana that brings art, imagination and technology together in a way kids can experience for themselves. LFT Fiber and S1 Technology helped present and support the exhibit, and Scout Real Estate Co. made it all possible by building the walls around it. The exhibit opened at the museum in September 2026.
